A poem to all those I have met in these travels, whose lives and stories, shared in cafés, monasteries, and farms, have inspired mine:

Your life is an ark.
You’ve been thrown into the sea,
you look around,
and only see water.
           I’m lost at sea,
what am I supposed to do here?

Trust the wind,
smile at the moon and the stars,
befriend the fish, and be aware of sharks.
All beings that swim and all drops of water,
are here to hold you upright.

You wonder where you are going:
somewhere beyond the horizon,
where your eyes cannot see
and where your mind cannot visualize,
there will be a shore.

You will think it will be home.
But remember:
home is for the explorer,
even the sea and the water.
